Our History

On Sunday September 5, 1911 a number of earnest Christians of Talmo and vicinity met together at the old school house (half way between the current church and city hall) for the purpose of organizing themselves into a Baptist Church.  Sixty-two people were present at this historic meeting and became the charter members of the church.

Upon organization, this group of Christians began immediately in the construction of the first church building.  This new church was dedicated on May 14, 1913.

The church voted to withdraw from the Mulberry Association and join the Chattahoochee Association on August 7, 1928 and in 1929, hosted the Chattahoochee Baptist Association annual meeting.

A new building fund was started on January 1, 1959 for the purpose of building the current building.  Construction began and the old church building was torn down on January 5, 1965 and was completed and occupied on November 21, 1965.
